Happy 4th Birthday, Calder!!

This past Tuesday we celebrated my first born son's 4th birthday. It's hard to believe that almost 5 years ago I found out I was pregnant with him, and now, here he is, on the cusp of being a Kindergartener!

Here's a picture of my baby the day he was born:

And here he is now, such a big boy!

To celebrate his birthday, we had a race-car themed party. He had some friends from the nieghbourhood over, as well as family friends and cousins. Not to mention parents! This all made for a very busy and wonderful party! There was a pit stop for food and 'fuel' (aka juice), a pin-the-number-on-the-race-car game (like pin the tail on the donkey), racing games, and a pinata. We had a beautiful day for it, albeit a bit hot, but our backyard was the perfect setting for it.

For Calder's actual birthday, we went out to 'The Tomato Restaurant' (aka East Side Mario's) where we enjoyed some yummy pasta. For dessert, Gary and I shared a piece of chocolate cheesecake and Calder had a trio of mini ice cream cones. We arranged for the servers to come over and sing Calder Happy Birthday and he was all shy. At home, Easton gave Calder a present - a Lego Camper (Mom and Dad already gave him a Big Flyer bike).

A Birthday to Celebrate

Last week we celebrated a birthday. We joined Calder's Aunt Cathy, Uncle Walter and cousins Peter and Olivia along with their Avo and Grandpa at their house to have a BBQ and swim for their Avo's birthday, Gary's Mom.

We had a fabulous lunch of steak, shrimp, sausages, roasted veggies, potatoes and crusty bread. After that delicious lunch, it was time for a swim. It was Easton's first time in a pool! Although a touch apprehensive at times, he seemed to enjoy it! Calder ventured off the pool steps this time in the pool, and, by the end of pool time, was walking on his tippy-toes in the shallow end! Way to go, big boy! :)
Calder had loads of fun with his cousins, as always. He is growing so much..I can't believe his 4th birthday is coming up soon! Where has the time gone?

After swimming we enjoyed some delicious fresh fruit, cake and flan. Yum. Easton certainly wanted to try the cake (he wants to eat everything we eat) but I think we'll hold off until at least Calder's birthday. Although, soon after, it will be Easton's own 1st birthday!

Since I didn't go in the pool I wandered around a bit taking some pictures of the beautiful plants that Gary's parents grow. They are avid gardeners, and good ones at that. They don't just have green thumbs, their entire hands are green! I hope you enjoy the pictures of our day...hope everyone is having a Happy Summer!

With love... xo

Calder's 2-year Photos

I originally had Calder booked in for photos around his 2nd birthday, but then he broke his arm. I didn't want that forever immortalized in a picture, so I re-booked for yesterday. I think the photos are great! Calder is starting to look like such a little boy now, and I think he kind of looks like I did at 2 - I've included a picture of me at 2, so you can see if you agree! (sorry for the quality, they are scanned photos!)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

Calder is 2 Years Old!!

Calder is now a big boy - he is 2 years old!! His birthday last Sunday was a lot of fun - this year he is starting to understand what a party is all about, especially one for his birthday! He is still talking about! He had lots of visitors to wish him a Happy Birthday, and was lucky to receive many kind gifts! Here are just a few of the pictures from his big day. I love you, Calder!!
