A trip to the Pumpkin Patch

This has been the 3rd year in a row that we have visited Knox's Pumpkin Farm in Durham region. The first time we went we were so excited to be first parents and to show Calder what a pumpkin farm was all about. Of course, the excitement was all ours as Calder was not even 2 months old. :) We didn't stay very long that first year, needless to say. :) Last year we had tons of fun as Calder was just beginning to explore the world around him. This year he is even more curious, albeit more cautious, about everything and anything. I hope that we can make this a family tradition. Even if we don't go to the same farm, I look forward to years ahead of more hay rides, barn explorations, and pony rides. :)

Here is a picture of Calder last year at the farm. What a cutie!!

Here's the comparable shot that we have. No way could we get him to sit down (I didn't even try) and after about 5 shots, I got this. Digital cameras are great!

Mommy & Calder, waiting for his first pony ride!

Calder's first time on a pony, ready to take a ride!

At the end of his ride on Goldie. :) What a big boy he is getting to be!

Mommy & Calder on the wagon ride. A bit chilly, but lots of fun!

Just a candid shot that I managed to take of the munchkin.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Fall season. If you can't tell, it's Gary's and my favourite season of the year - the fall colours, Thanksgiving, pumpkins, roasting marshmallows, fire pits, the brisk air - we love it all. :)

More Hallowe'en Pictures

Well Calder, Mommy and Daddy had such a fun time on Hallowe'en night. We visited a couple of neighbours (and by a couple I mean 2) and had fun outside on our porch and the front yard, handing out candies to Trick-or-Treaters. Calder also had fun brmm-brmming around the sidewalk on his Red Rocket trike. Here are some pictures of our Hallowe'en!

One of my students took this picture of me in my classroom!

Calder had fun investigating while Mommy carved the pumpkin. He still thinks the pumpkin is a ball of some sort, but we'll get there!

I wanted a nice picture of the two of us, but Calder would have nothing of it.

Would a cat and monkey get along in real life? This pair does!!!!!

A fun weekend

Yesterday we decided kind of spontaneously that we would just get in the car and drive somewhere. After stopping off for some Tim's in the morning (Calder enjoyed a bagel and cream cheese with Mommy) we stopped off at an Orchard in the Durham region which has a fabulous bakery/gifts store. After getting some Cortland apples for Gary (which he swears are the BEST apples) and some Macintosh apples for me (to make apple crisp with) and some pastries and gingerbread cookies, we were off.

We ended up at a Farm that we went to last year when Calder was just about 6-7 weeks old. Of course, he knew nothing of what was going on, but we couldn't wait till this year to show him the Farm again. Here we are already, and what a difference a year makes in the life of a child. Calder had an amazing time at the Farm - checking out all kinds of farm animals - ponies, cows, chickens and pigs. We also had lots of fun running through a corn maze and picking out a pie pumpkin (nice and small) just for Calder. It was a lovely day, albeit a bit cold - but I would rather it be fall-like weather than last weekend's scorcher.

On our way to the farm....I can't tell if Calder is pleased or not...

Daddy and Calder coming in to the Farm. Calder was already so excited!

It took about 5 shots to finally get Calder to look at the camera in this picture. There were so many things for him to look at!

Mommy and Calder walking through the corn maze...with Calder leading the way!

When Calder sat himself down on a haystack, I just had to take a picture.

Calder's Avo also came for a visit on the weekend. She came over Saturday and stayed overnight to give Gary and I a much-needed date night! We went out for all you can eat sushi and had a lovely time, although we were quite stuffed coming home!

Today (Sunday) we all went out for a trip to the park down the street which was recently finished. There are more things for a toddler to do in this park than in the other local one, and Calder loves it already. He especially loves swings...he gets quite upset if we pass the park without going in! Here are some pictures of our time at the park!

Calder just loves swings. Also, doesn't he look cute in his new hat??? I love it!

Calder being the cute little monkey that he is.

He loves the "car" wheel in the playground. Just imagine him making car noises while he "steers" it. :)

We had a lovely Fall weekend - we hope that everyone else did as well, and may your week speed by quickly!
